Pocket God by Bolt Creative

Review by: Sean Bonner Everyone knows the rule, when someone asks you if you're a God, you say "Yes!" Superiority complex or not, thanks to Bolt Creative this is no long simple posturing to protect you and your friends from rooftop dwelling demons in 80's ghost movies. With Pocket God you actually play deity to a bunch of pigmys on an island.
Pocket God
When I say "play god" more often then not what I'm talking about is finding new ways to annoy, torment, and eventually kill your creations. Luckily you can make new ones just as easily. But this isn't some sadistic horrorshow, the pigmys have to face real life issues that you just get to sway one way or another. This isn't so much a game as it is an ongoing story that you make up every time you play it. On any given day the pigmys might face a storm, an earthquake, an exploding volcano, sharks, man-eating birds, man-eating ants, dinosaur attacks or someone hogging the bathroom so long that those waiting eventualy pop. As God you can influence these events and make them more or less severe. You can also help the pigmys out by giving them fire, cooking their food, killing the giant bird that poops on their heads, giving them a spear to fight off the dinosaurs, and kicking people out of the bathroom. You can also change the weather, move them to a different island, or send them to Davy Jones' Locker. Honestly, it's more amusing than it is fun, but it's enlessly amusing and it's the most regularly updated iPhone game I own. Almost weekly they release new "episodes" which add a new object or danger to the islands. At $0.99 I'm comfortable saying this is the best value game in the AppStore. I've been playing this for months and it never gets old.
